Volunteer at Camp Wheez

Students are invited to apply to be a volunteer camp counselor at Camp Wheez, a day camp for elementary school children with chronic asthma.

The following volunteer positions are available:

Camp counselors are high school students who help to staff the camp and guide the children through a variety of activities. If you are selected to be a counselor you will learn about asthma and health, gain experience working with children, earn up to 30 community service hours and have a lot of fun!

Camp junior counselor is a position open only to former campers and only by invitation. These junior high or middle school students assist counselors and staff. This position is a great opportunity to continue being part of camp, gain experience toward being a counselor in the future and have a lot of fun!

Volunteer counselors must be available as follows:

Orientation: Monday, July 25, 2022 from 3:00 to 5:00 pm
Camp: Monday through Friday, August 1 through 5, 2022 from 7:30 am to 1:00 pm

COVID-19 information

For the health and safety of all who attend Camp Wheez, we ask that all volunteers get the COVID-19 vaccine including the primary series of two shots plus one booster shot. The vaccine is safe and the best way to help protect against COVID-19.

Please include a photo of your vaccine card with your application. If you need to get the vaccine, work with your parents to contact your doctor or pharmacy right away. It is important to start now to be ready for Camp. For more information, please see our COVID-19 information page,

Volunteer positions fill up fast! Turn in your application as soon as possible and no later than June 15, 2022. Be sure to fill it out completely and have your parent or guardian complete page 4.
