How are star ratings for providers determined?

Star ratings are based on responses to survey questions that focus on a patient's likelihood to recommend the provider's office to family and friends as well as the provider's care, including whether the provider listened carefully, spent enough time with you, explained things in an easy-to-understand way, and seemed to know important information about your medical history. Press Ganey averages and converts all survey responses into a single star rating, with five stars being the highest.

"I had the Urolift procedure on June 9, 2018. I was apprehensive about it, of course, but I simply could not believe how simple it was. I was wheeled into the operating room a little before 1 pm and I came out from the mild anesthesia at 1:20 pm feeling perfectly fine. I asked if the procedure had been done as it didn't seem possible it could have taken so little time. The after recovery period was very rapid and I was home by 2:30, feeling just fine. This procedure has dramatically improved the quality of my life, most dominantly in the area of not having to get up three or four times each night to urinate. I had very little postoperative pain, and it was gone within 24 hours. I was back to my usual self within a day, and could easily have gone back to work but for the fact, I'm retired. "I had the UroLift procedure performed by Dr. Daniel Curhan, MD approximately two years ago in July 2016. I am ever so grateful that Dr. Curhan presented the UroLift procedure option to me for my enlarged prostate issue. Though the prostate medications were very helpful prior to having the procedure done, I know now (two years later) that the UroLift procedure was an excellent long term solution for my enlarged prostate issues. And definitely for my quality of life!! I originally had the typical symptoms of an enlarged prostate. Difficulties with urinating. And making numerous trips to the bathroom during the day and nighttime hours. Because of these issues, I was only sleeping about 1 to 1.5 hours at a stretch each night. (Multiple bathroom trips.) Now, at almost two years post-UroLift procedure, I sleep 4-5 hours at a stretch. Occasionally, even longer. I now get up an average of once a night to use the bathroom. I feel like a teenager!
