About
- Doug Jacobson, MD provides state of the art medical and surgical eye care for our Santa Barbara community since 2010. He is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in cataract and glaucoma surgery. A California native, Dr. Jacobson received his Bachelor’s degree in Physics from Colorado College, then taught in Costa Rica, at Yosemite Institute, and at the Colorado College. He earned his medical degree at Yale University School of Medicine and trained in Internal Medicine at Stanford University Medical Center. Dr. Jacobson completed specialty training in Ophthalmology at the University of Washington in Seattle. Following completion of this training, Dr. Jacobson worked at a multi-specialty group in Seattle providing comprehensive ophthalmology care, including a high volume of cataract surgery. In 2010, Dr. Jacobson established a successful ophthalmology private practice in Santa Barbara. In 2018, Sansum Clinic recruited Dr. Jacobson to join Sansum Clinic.
Professional Distinctions
- Dr. Jacobson is passionate about treating the whole patient. He believes that part of good eye care is attention to general health, including a healthy lifestyle. He is an avid cyclist and farmers’ market shopper, volunteers in trail and environmental stewardship, and works to promote a healthy lifestyle in our Santa Barbara community.
