How are star ratings for providers determined?

Star ratings are based on responses to survey questions that focus on a patient's likelihood to recommend the provider's office to family and friends as well as the provider's care, including whether the provider listened carefully, spent enough time with you, explained things in an easy-to-understand way, and seemed to know important information about your medical history. Press Ganey averages and converts all survey responses into a single star rating, with five stars being the highest.

About

  • Dr. Garber’s interest in pulmonary medicine grew from his personal experiences with childhood asthma. While his symptoms waned with age his early respiratory limitations influenced his ultimate career trajectory. Originally from Southern California, Dr. Garber left to study history at UC Berkeley. This was followed by time at Columbia University where he obtained a Masters in Science in Human Nutrition. Missing California, Dr. Garber returned to UCLA for medical school, residency, chief residency and ultimately fellowship. He is thrilled to have settled in the Santa Barbara area where he spends his free time with his wife and three daughters.
