Marc Zerey, MD, CM, MSc, FRCSC, FACS
Dr. Zerey is a board-certified physician at Sansum Clinic specializing in bariatric weight-loss surgery and advanced laparoscopic surgical techniques. Dr. Zerey performs minimally invasive primary and revisional weight-loss surgery including Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy, and gastric banding. In addition to Bariatric surgery, Dr. Zerey performs minimally invasive procedures for the treatment of hernias, heartburn, disorders of the small and large bowel, tumors of the stomach, disorders of the spleen, tumors of the adrenal gland as well as complications of the gallbladder and bile ducts.
Dr. Zerey has published extensively, including journal articles in American Surgeon, American Journal of Surgery, Journal of Surgical Research, and Surgical Innovation. He is a frequent lecturer on surgical topics including weight-loss surgery.

Emily Luxford, MS, RD- Bariatric Dietitian
Emily Luxford is a registered dietitian with a master’s degree in nutritional science. She has experience as a credentialed elementary school teacher and has also taught nutrition at California State University, Long Beach. Beyond the classroom, she has developed and published research regarding dietary modification.
At Sansum Clinic, Emily provides individualized medical nutrition therapy for various health conditions. Since 2013, Emily has worked with Dr. Zerey to provide an integrative approach to nutrition support before and after surgery. Additionally, she has completed an adult weight management certification program by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and Commission on Dietetic Registration.
Emily’s coaching insures dietary adequacy throughout the weight loss process. Unlike many bariatric programs, Sansum Clinic provides individual nutrition counseling following surgical intervention. In addition to individual appointments, patients receive lifestyle guidance through monthly support groups. These groups are tailored to meet the needs of the bariatric population.
