“It was so frightening to hear the word cancer and walk into a big institutional building with all he big machines. The things that softened the experience were the beautiful kind concierge and the volunteers. The sweet decor at the concierges desk was very beautiful and in good taste, which also softened and created a more comfortable effect. The garden in the back helped, the puzzles, or a walk in Oak Park nearby. When Sam Howland took me under her wing I felt like I was falling into the arms of a family member (I live alone and have no family). The friendliness of everyone and the helpful staff is the best I have ever experienced in a medical facility, ANYWHERE, EVER. Of course I love Dr. Kass and Lydia Jimazz MA too. I miss the homey-beauty at the concierge's desk.”
