About
Joseph Ryan, MD, is a board-certified Medical Oncologist and Hematologist with a special interest in malignant hematology. He completed his Hematology-Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplant fellowships at Scripps Health, his Internal Medicine residency at the University of California San Diego, and earned his medical degree from the University of Washington School of Medicine.
Dr. Ryan was inspired to pursue oncology by his early exposure to science and a family member’s melanoma experience, which emphasized the importance of compassionate care that continues to guide his work. He values the dynamic nature of oncology, enjoying the opportunities for continual learning, problem-solving, and meaningful patient interactions.
In addition to his clinical expertise, Dr. Ryan’s research interests include financial toxicity in cancer care and quality improvement initiatives. His calm demeanor and dedication to building strong, trusting relationships with his patients highlights his commitment to delivering exceptional, patient-centered care.
A proud alumnus of Gonzaga University, Dr. Ryan is an avid Gonzaga basketball fan who eagerly follows March Madness each year. Outside of his practice, he enjoys staying active through exercise and spending timeoutdoors with his young family.
