Sansum Clinic's 180 physicians deliver the highest quality of healthcare to more than 150,000 patients (600,000 visits) annually through the Clinic's 21 facilities between Carpinteria and Santa Maria. Less known is Sansum Clinic's significant contribution to the Santa Barbara community-at-large through its Community Service Programs. Our commitment from the beginning has been to an overall comprehensive plan of treatment and our Community Service Programs improve the quality of life of patients and community by encouraging healthy lifestyle choices, and by delivering the educational component involved in quality healthcare.
Many people know us through the flu shot clinics we offer each year. Or you may be one of the 3,000 people who attend our health education classes every year. More than 300 classes are provided throughout the county, on topics ranging from living well with asthma to diabetes education to walking and training with a physical therapist.
But maybe you don't know about the 100 kids a year who receive free physicals from us so they can participate in team sports. Or the pre-med course at UCSB that we have co-taught for more than 20 years to introduce prospective physicians to the clinical care.
Throughout our history, we have been deeply involved in our community. As the needs of the community change, we develop new and innovative services to meet those needs. One example is our collaboration with Santa Barbara Neighborhood Clinics. Working together, we are able to provide sophisticated diagnostic tests for patients who could not otherwise afford them. These tests are essential tools in the appropriate diagnosis and treatment of disease. Our active collaboration ensures the medically underserved in our community have access to these critical tools.
In an effort to raise the level of care for everyone (patients and non-patients alike) Sansum Clinic provides medical care and education without charge or at a reduced fee to residents through our robust Community Service Programs.
