Cardiac Electrophysiology

Cardiac electrophysiology, a sub-specialty of cardiology, focuses on diagnosing and treating problems with the heart's electrical system, which controls heart rate and rhythm. An abnormal heartbeat, called arrhythmia, is any variation in the normal heartbeat (beating too fast or too slow).

Many arrhythmias are minor, causing only occasional abnormal heartbeats and requiring no treatment. Others, such as atrial fibrillation (fast and irregular heartbeat), can be life-threatening because they increase the risk of blood clots and strokes—and thus need immediate attention.

Wide Range of Cardiac Electrophysiology Services

Sansum Clinic's cardiac electrophysiology specialist treats patients with a variety of heart-rhythm related conditions using the latest techniques and technology. These tests help determine the cause of your abnormal heart rhythm, as well as the best procedure, treatment or device to address your condition.

Specialties include:

  • Cardiac arrhythmia mapping
  • Cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT)
  • Pacemaker implantation
  • Pharmacological management
  • Standard and complex catheter ablation therapy
