I'm writing to say a few words about how wonderful Camp Wheez has been for my two twin girls, Cami and Mia.
They first attended camp two years ago. When Dr Liebhaber first suggested it to me, I had my doubts. A whole week of camp revolving around their asthma? Either it was going to be extremely boring for them, or else it would turn them into hypochondriacs!
Of course, it turned out to be neither. In fact it was a busy week filled with crafts, games, drama, and yes, learning about their asthma and how to deal with it. But it didn't make them fearful, it just made them knowledgeable and matter of fact about the whole thing. They LOVED camp, and begged to return. (Their being the Scarecrow and Dorothy in the camp production of "The Wheezard of Oz" really sparked a love of theater in them too!)
I was and continue to be blown away by the generosity of the doctors, nurses and others who volunteered their time and effort to provide a wonderful, fun, and educational week of camp for these kids.
Mia and Cami proudly wear their Camp Wheeze t-shirts!
