Sansum Clinic’s first Visiting Professor of Surgery, John L. Cameron, MD, The Alfred Blalock Distinguished Service Professor of Surgery at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine visited Santa Barbara for an Academic Week February 27 –March 3, 2012. His role was to interact, teach and mentor the practicing surgeons in our community and was directly involved with teaching the surgical residents in training at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.
Dr. Cameron delivered a lecture on William Stewart Halsted, MD: Father of American Surgery at 5:30 pm on March 1 at Cottage Hospital’s Burtness Auditorium. The lecture was open to the public. Dr. Halsted was one of the “Big Four” founding professors at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. This lecture is at capacity and closed for attendance. Due to overwhelming interest, we scheduled an encore lecture presentation on Friday, March 2 from 2:30 – 3:30 pm, also at Cottage Burtness Auditorium.
