National Association on Mental Illness (NAMI)

National Empowerment Center

Resource (BILINGUAL) Provides a list of 'consumer-run statewide organizations' (click on it on left side of their website), which can be contacted for information on local consumer-run support groups and programs in your state. Also provides information and referral helpline, as well as literature, books, DVDs, lectures workshops, and other resources. NEC's mission is 'to carry a message of recovery, empowerment, hope and healing to people with lived experiences with mental health issues, trauma and extreme states.'

Dual Diagnosis Anonymous

Model Group. Approximately a hundred groups in Oregon. Founded 2005. A peer support group based on the 12-steps, which has an additional 5-Steps that focus upon Dual Recovery (from both mental illness and substance abuse). DDA groups are primarily in Oregon.
